hyunlab Apple made record revenues during its fiscal third quarter of 2010 with its newly-launched iPad and record Macintosh sales.
Apple made a profit of $3.25 billion on revenue of $15.7 billion, both of which increased sharply from last year, when Apple reported a profit of $1.83 billion on revenue of $9.73 billion.
Analysts expected Apple to earn $14.62 million in revenue. This means Apple could be in good shape to surpass Microsoft reports later this week. Microsoft is expected to report a revenue of $15.25 billion.
Apple sold 3.47 million Macintosh computers for the quarter, which is up by 33 percent from last year and iPhone sales increased by 61 percent compared to a year ago to 8.4 million units. Apple sold 1.147 million desktops and 1.796 notebook Macs, for a total of $1.53 billion and $2.23 billion in revenue, respectively.
iPod sales, however, went down 8 percent to 9.41 million. As for the iPad, Apple said that the tablet sold 3.27 million units.
This is a phenomenal year for Apple's. The iPad had a great start, with more people are buying Macs than ever before.
Apple will hold a conference call with analysts later on Tuesday to discuss its results. The company is expecting record revenues of $18 billion for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2010.

The guys over at Apple may be able to develop the super Mac, but I still won't be impressed. Not at all! Really.
You see...i personally believe that all Apple products are just too bloated. Not to mention very expensive! While other brands can come up with the same device that can even perform better for half the price.
But like anything else in life, one's choice of a laptop is still a matter of personal taste. However, I still believe that in buying gadgets - especially laptops -your top consideration must be the laptop's specifications. Secondly, what kind of laptop user are you? Are you the gaming type or the IT business type? Do the specs of the laptop matches the kind of user that you are? Lastly, can you afford it?
Most people that can afford high-end laptops tend to just buy the most expensive, top-of-the-line type, most recent model. Usually, they look at the specs last. What if I can afford a such kind of laptop? Well...that's just easy. I still won't get a Mac (Sorry Apple!). I'd get a Sony Vaio instead!
Why? Hardware and software-wise, Sony Vaio is just all worth your money's value, ten times over. The specs of every Sony Vaio Series is just mouth-watering and you can even build your own customized Sony Vaio when your purchase one.
Besides, it's S-O-N-Y. Who's gonna argue with that?
I certainly won't.

They have chosen the Sony Vaio VPCZ114GX/S as the best on the market at the minute for weight. It is "blisteringly" fast while being a "breeze" to carry. If weight isn't your concern though and you want more speed, then they have chosen the Alienware M17x as the best for gaming. Of the mainstream laptops, the best for multimedia is apparently the Samsung R580-JSB1US which comes with an Intel Core i5-430M processor, while the best for price is the Asus U30JC-A1.

Peter Van Lancker Check out the Acer Aspire 5740G-6979, all purpose laptop which is based on Intel's Core i5 CPUs. The heart of this bulky laptop is the next gen Core i5-430M processor and ATI Radeon Mobility 5650 graphics and even though it comes in an attractive cobalt blue casing, you will be bamboozled by its thickness which is 1.5-inches and weight which is around 6.2 pound.
In terms of performance its pretty standard for a laptop of this kind and it was able to manage WorldBench 6 scores which can be considered to be just slightly better than the average. If you consider it for gaming then it tends to perform better. Connectivity is average as it puts to use Atheros 802.11n chip but I was surprised to find Bluetooth missing from it as it is ubiquitous in today's world. Just forgot to mention the price, it is $750 for this baby!!
